Two things...

Hey everyone! Yes, it has been a very long time since I've posted here, but I am here now to give two updates...

First, I am an Avon representative. Ask me about being a representative or register and shop my online store. http://www.youravon.com/chantellestewart. Help me out here and see the best beauty products in the country! And if you want a discount, ask how you can become a representative.

The second thing is an update about Columbia's gaming convention. It is on again!!! Visit http://roundcon.com for more information, but basically it will be held October 2-4, 2009 at the Holiday Inn Express-Ft. Jackson, which is off I-77 on Garners Ferry Road in Columbia. Scheduled events are role-playing games, board games, a kids' track, and a costume contest. Check it out, this is a local event.

So check out both of these sites!

Coming soon...Dragon*Con wrapup!

Browncoats: Redemption has a panel at D*C!

I got this from Michael Doughtery on facebook, so I decided to pass it on. Also, I met one of the cast, a Browncoat who just moved back to the Columbia area. So we have local ties to this movie, all the more reason to hype it up!

Hey there group,

Are you going to Dragon*Con this year?

If so we're excited to announce that we will have or own panel about the film at Dragon*Con 2009 on the Whedon Track Panel for film.

Sunday 9/6/2009 11:30 AM
Browncoats: Redemption
Marriott L401-403

During this panel we talk more about the exciting upcoming Firefly Fan film Browncoats: Redemption, participate in a Q & A with the us, get a first look at the first trailer, and much more.

Also, if you're at Dragon*Con and you'd love to help, we could use help on our street team getting the word out about our panel and film.

This is a reminder of Can't Stop the Serenity in Charlotte, NC this year. I've gone the last 2 years and am planning to go this year with my youngest son. It's the closest screening to Columbia, SC, so make plans to attend the screening near you. A great movie for a great cause!

Here are the details for the Charlotte CSTS...

Time: 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Location: UU Church of Charlotte

If you're close to Charlotte, then come on and enjoy the BDM. If you're not, then go to http://cantstoptheserenity.com and find the screening near you. I hear Nashville is having a very shiny weekend planned in August...

I AM CURSED!!! Maybe this will cheer me up...

Hey everyone! Yes, I AM CURSED!!! My DVD drive crashed on my computer, so I sent it to Geek Squad. Well, after a diagnostic, there was nothing wrong with the hardware, BUT there were about 100 or so infections, mostly from LimeWire.(I WILL CURSE LIMEWIRE UNTIL THE DAY I DIE!!!) So I waited 10 days for the restore disks, then sent it back to get a complete restore done. Get it back home and turn it on, and it doesn't turn on. So it's back to Geek Squad, and my computer is now on its way to service, which means another 2-3 WEEKS WITHOUT A COMPUTER!!! Yes, THIS SUCKS!!! I am writing this now on my oldest's computer, and we won't go there about what I've gone through to use it...

Anyway, I got this from Magda on facebook. I will say this, if this does come to fruition, I will pay the extra to get the premium channel package just for this...

"Hi everyone!

I meant to send this around sooner, but it didn't happen...

There is a petition going around to grow support for either HBO or Showtime in the USA to start production of an animated Firefly series happening - this would give Joss and hit team the opportunity to grow story lines and give us more of our BDHs!!

Follow the link here: http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/revivefirefly

Lets take one more step towards what the 76th aim to do (appart from misbehave!) Sign and ask your friends to do the same!

Thanks everyone! I know I can count on you! We never leave a man behind!

So you can still find me on Yahoo Messenger--through my BlackBerry--and at my email, goysu@yahoo.com.

I am a TERRIBLE blogger! (Or CSTS '09 in Nashville)

Alright, people, I know, I know. I'm a terrible blogger. I love to write, have loved to write since junior high. But for some ungodly reason I can't keep a journal. So with the "blog" being the new journal, well...you see where this is going.

But I will not dwell on the fact I am a terrible blogger. I came here to give news of another Can't Stop the Serenity event, this time in Nashville, Tennessee. The "Whedonites United" have planned a weekend of shiny goodness, which they have named WhedonFest, for August 7-9, 2009. If you're in the Nashville area, I highly recommend checking this out. Check it out at http://www.whedonitesunited.com/id16.html.

The schedule and prices for the festivities are on the website, but here are the highlights... a Dr. Horrible screening, along with other Whedon projects; a silent auction, a couple of shindigs, food, and--of course--the Serenity screening. And it's all for a good cause, Equality Now, along with other worthy charities.

So check this out if you're in the area. Or if you're not, go to http://www.cantstoptheserenity.com for the screening in your area. Me personally, I am planning to go to the Charlotte, NC screening on June 27...if I have the cashy money for it.

Art Contest Winner Announced

The Can't Stop the Serenity art contest ended on March 12, and the winner was announced the same day. And the winner is...Don McMillan from Ottawa, Canada. Congratulations to Don, I loved this design and I'm happy it won. Of course all of the entries were good, but I liked this one best.

Read the entire story here and see the winning entry. I can't wait for the T-shirts to come out so I can get one! Of course I still have to get my ticket for the Charlotte screening. Make sure you get your T-shirt and your ticket to the closest screening to you, support Equality Now!

This came from facebook and the organizers of this year's Can't Stop the Serenity...

We know it’s gonna be a challenge - but we need you, the good folk of the ‘Verse, to help us choose which one will become the official artwork for CSTS 2009. You can only vote once and you’ve only got until March 12th to get your voice heard and your vote counted.

Got my Dragon*Con cards

I got my Dragon*Con registration cards this week. They were a little hard to miss, hot pink this year. I'm invested in going now, and my youngest son is going with me.

He is so happy to be going. I have my first Jayne hat on my bookcase, so he sees it all the time. Every now and then he asks, "I'm gonna wear this at Drgaon*Con this year?" Yes, you're gonna wear it there this year. He is so pumped.

I told the 76th I was marching in the parade again this year. I loved marching last year (this year FILL THE CANTEEN!!!), I couldn't resist marching again. But I'm wondering what to do with my youngest. Should I have him on the side or should I let him march? Will he want to march or watch?

No worries, I got enough time to think about it. I just got the cards this week...
